June Favorites - catching up, moving on!

Wow, what a busy summer.  We have already made one out-or-town trip and more will follow. Right now we are home getting reading to move next month!  In the midst of all this, here are a few of my favorite things so far in June.
  • Flagstaff
Our first stop on our first trip of the summer was Flagstaff where we stayed in our Wyndham time share condo for a couple of day.s

We did a little family hike at the Red Mountain Trail, which is a good hike that goes into the cone of a volcano.

The hike is not a very hard one.  It is fairly flat and about a 3-mile round trip.

There are beautiful red rock formations in what was the cone of this ancient volcano.

Lots of stunning scenery.

 It was a nice hike...

...and we enjoyed doing it as a family.

It was cool and cloudy while we hiked, but the clouds you see in this picture, broke loose and just about as soon as we got back to the  car, it started to rain.

  • Family
The next day we headed up to Utah, where our first stop was our daughter's house, so we could see our sweet grandchildren.

This is our 11-year-old grandson who was getting ready for a baseball game when we arrived.

Our six-year-old grandson and his almost three-year-old sister were smiling and ready for fun...

...while the nine-year-old (on the right) was playing with her friends.  It was great to see them all.  We also got the  grand tour of the beautiful home our daughter and son-in-law have purchased and will soon be moving into.  No pictures yet, but trust me, it is a lovely home, and they have been doing lots of work renovating and updating it just the way they want it.

  • Temple
This was really a business trip to Utah for us. There were some things we needed to take care of before our final move, but did take time to do some things we had been wanting to like seeing the Payson Temple up close.

  • Reunion with a friend
Josh got to meet up with and spend some time visiting with one of his former mission leaders and his wife. He enjoyed talking with them.  He hasn't seen them for over two years, and since they are off to serve as missionaries themselves in Mexico this month, he won't be able to see them for another three years.  Josh said this man was like a father figure to him.

  • Anniversary

\
On June 8th, Charly and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary.  Here are a few pictures from our wedding day all those years ago.  I can still say that my wedding day was one of the very best days of my life, and my sweet husband is still one of the my greatest blessings!

  • Birthday

Josh turned 21 on June 18. Wow, those 21 years went quickly! This guy is another great blessing in my life.  Charly and I  love him a lot and are very proud of him.

  • Father's Day

Josh's birthday was also Father's Day, and Charly enjoyed the extra attention, gifts and special food made just for him.

  • Retirement

On Monday, we visited the Arizona State Retirement System office where I did the official paperwork to take early retirement as a teacher in Arizona.

  • Moving on

This is what our house here in Arizona looks like right now. It's not pretty but we are making progress in getting ready to move. In case you didn't know, we are moving back to Utah! We have been gone since 1987 so we are looking forward to moving back after 30 years. We aren't all going at once,  so we will be chalking up the frequent flyer and driver miles between SLC and Phoenix for a while. We already have a house in the Sugarhouse/Millcreek area of SLC, which we bought last year in anticipation of moving there in a few years, but this spring a lot of things happened very quickly to compel us to move a lot sooner than we had originally planned. We will miss our Arizona friends but we are looking forward to spending more time with friends and family in Utah. This move is a blessing to our family and we are super excited.

  • Thought for the week
This quote seemed quite appropriate as we prepare for a big move to our family.  We are praying for God's help and guidance as we head up north
