First Week of March Gratitude

The end of the week is the time when I link up with other bloggers over Susanne's blog, Living to Tell the Story, to remember the positive things in the past week.  Here are some of the things I am most grateful for this week.

😊 We got a safety recall for Charly's 2020 Dodge Charger.  The recall was for a problem with the airbags, so it needed to be fixed as soon as possible.  I am grateful that we were able to get the car into the dealership and get this problem fixed last week.

😊 Because of my broken right foot and the walking boot I have to wear, Charly has been driving me to work and picking me up every day.  That's extra effort for him, but he is always kind and cheerful about it and has not complained at all. I am grateful to have such a wonderful husband.

😊 Because of my broken foot, I haven't been walking every night after school. While I do miss walking every day, I am grateful that I have had more time to read at night.  I also love and am grateful for my new Kindle Paperwhite.  I decided to get Kindle Unlimited, and I have found some really interesting books which I am enjoying and learning from.

😊 Charly and I both finished the antibiotics we were taking for the respiratory/lung infections we have been battling.  I am grateful that the medicine seems to have worked and we both feel a lot better.

😊 Since we have had a month of not feeling well, we haven't been going to church, and I am very grateful for the wonderful Christian/scripture study podcasts and Youtubes that I listen to each week.  They have helped me stay connected to God's word.

That's all for now.  I hope you also had a good week with much to be grateful for. Have a good weekend.

Until next time,
😊Deb💖

The Best of an Ordinary Week

It was an ordinary week here in my world, and here are some of the things I am most grateful for.   To remember the good, I am joining again with Susanne over at Living to Tell the Story for Friday's Fave Five.

😊 I attended my precinct caucus on Tuesday night.  Caucusing is what Utah's Republican Party does instead of primaries. It was long and boring, and my preferred candidate did not win, but I am grateful that I am an American and have the opportunity to make my voice heard.

😊 We had several rainy days this week, and at the beginning of the week, we even got more snow.  I am grateful for rain and needed moisture, but I am also grateful that we got mostly rain, and that the snow once again stayed in the mountains - which got between 2-3 more feet of snow!

😊 I had some pain from sciatica this past week, and I realized that my Health Walker may be the culprit, so I have decided to try and sell it.  I still work out every morning before I go to work, and I am grateful that I was able to find some low impact exercise videos on Youtube, which did not aggravate my sciatica.

😊 I am grateful that we joined our community rec. center so I can walk the track because that doesn't aggravate the sciatica.   I am also grateful that I can walk around the neighborhood when I don't go to the rec. center. Walking does not seem to hurt my back, and I am grateful for that, because I love walking.

😊 I'm grateful that these medicated patches also helped my back a lot this week, when neither Advil nor Tylenol would ease the pain.

😊 Because I have an "extended class schedule" (which means that I teach an extra class and only have a prep hour every other day),  I don't have a lot of time to spend making copies for assignments.  I had to have a good amount of copies made last week, and I am grateful that volunteers from our PTSA come to make copies for teachers. These copies were made and delivered to my classroom by a volunteer and that helped so much!

😊 I am always grateful for excellent books to read and this week, I am reading two excellent books - If the Creek Don't Rise by Leah Weiss and Bad Therapy by Abigail Shrier.

That's all for now. Thank you so much for stopping by to share my favorites and gratitude! Have a good weekend.

Until next time

An Ordinary Week of Gratitude

This last week was pretty ordinary - nothing really novel or earth-shattering took place, but there were still plenty of blessings, often hiding in plain sight.  I am linking up again with Susanne over at Living to Tell the Story to remember the positive and express my gratitude.

😊 We got another five inches of snow earlier this week.  The roads were icy and snowy and my drive was a little slick.  I am grateful that I got to school safely.  On my drive, I passed several snow plows trying to clear up the streets and I am extremely thankful for the hardworking snowplow drivers who literally keep things moving on snowy, icy days.

😊 These are the boots I wear on really snowy days.  I got them a couple of years ago and I am thankful that I have these boots that keep me warm, comfortable and safe when I am walking through snow or on icy sidewalks.

😊 Tuesday at school the ACT (American College Test) was given to all the 11th grade students.   Usually, I have been assigned as a room supervisor or test proctor, but this year, I was assigned to be a hall-monitor in the hall pictured above.  My job was to help students find and get to their assigned room to take the test.  Being a hall monitor was a lot less stressful than overseeing students taking the test.  Once the students were in their assigned rooms taking the test, I had some time to grade and read for several hours.  This is the first time I have been assigned as a hall-monitor on test day, I hope it will not be the last. I am thankful for a less stressful day and some extra time to grade and read.

😊 Because Tuesday was a testing day, I was able to come home a little early. It was a sunny day so Charly and I decided to go for an afternoon walk.  I am always grateful for a walk, but a few minutes after I took this picture, I slipped and fell on a snowy portion of grass as I was trying to pass a person with a large dog blocking the sidewalk.  I went down on the muddy grass, my pants and coat were sopping wet, I was embarrassed, and my back was a little sore that evening.  Still, I am thankful that I didn't fall on concrete and was not more seriously injured.

😊 Wednesday morning, our water had to be off again for routine maintenance.  Water in our homes is something easily taken for granted, until we don't have it, so I am thankful that the water came back on exactly when it was scheduled to, about lunch time.

😊 We are  continuing to go through papers and other items that we have probably kept too long.  Last night, I opened a wooden box where I keep family mementos and found that I had kept all of my Day Planner/Appointment Calendars dating back to about 2007.  I went through them and decided there was no reason to keep them, especially since I had kept daily or almost daily journals during the same time.  I think I may be justly slightly OCD since the daily calendars were quite detailed and some were even color coded!😉 There was really no reason to keep them, so they are gone now and I don't think I will miss them at all.  I also found a good number of programs from my parent's funerals, so I put a few aside and threw the rest away. I am thankful for the opportunity to go through long-forgotten items, throw out what isn't needed and lighten the load going forward.

😊 The snowstorm we had Wednesday night didn't amount to much and there was blue sky and sunshine most of Thursday.  Warmer temperatures are in the forecast and I am thankful  that spring is on the way.

There is always more to be grateful for, but I will stop here for now.  Thanks for stopping by to share the good.  Have a pleasant weekend!

Until next time,
😊Deb💖
